I run a private, low-volume practice next to the UCSF Parnassus campus. I see every patient myself and usually take my own calls. I explain test results, give you copies of your reports, and put real weight on preventive care.

I am board-certified in Internal Medicine and in Endocrinology & Metabolism, and I am a Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF. I've written Endocrine chapters of Current Medical Diagnosis & Treatment for many years.

What I treat

Adults and older teens with:

• Diabetes
• Thyroid disorders — nodules, hypothyroidism, Graves disease
• Adrenal disorders — masses, pheochromocytoma, Addison disease, Cushing syndrome
• Pituitary disorders — tumors, hypopituitarism
• Osteoporosis
• Male hypogonadism and menopause

The first visit takes 60 to 120 minutes. We will send you a health questionnaire to fill out beforehand. If you can't make your appointment, please let us know as soon as you can.

Fees & insurance

The practice does not bill insurance for office visits. You pay at the visit, and we give you an itemized statement to send to your insurer for reimbursement. For hospitalized patients, we bill insurance directly.
